Breaking News: Lexington resident arrested after shooting on Dacotah Street
On Saturday, May 4 at approximately 9 a.m. Lexington Police Department officers responded to a call about a shooting at the intersection of Dacotah Street and Copley Street. The calls were reporting that two males were shooting at each other.
Physical evidence was quickly located and witness interviews began on the scene after officers arrived. Preliminary investigation detectives responding officers to the residence of 119 Dacotah Street where officers came in contact with Marshall Jermaine Parker, age 41, of Lexington.
Lexington Police Department Criminal Investigations Division led responded to assist at the Dacotah Street residence. Continued investigation by officers and detectives led to the locating and seizing of a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting incident.
Through continued interviews and the continued discovery of physical evidence at and around the scene, Parker was determined to have been one of the shooters involved. Others involved have not yet been identified.
No shooting victims have been identified and no property damage has been located at this time.
Parker has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in the city, and habitual felon. He was held in the Davidson County Jail with no bond due to already being out on bond from a prior arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on Monday, June 10.
Investigators have no reason to believe that this was related to the shooting on Mendota Avenue earlier this week. This is an isolated incident and there is believed to be no continued threat to the public.
Another dangerous individual, and a firearm, has been taken off the street this week due to the quick response, investigation, and apprehension of Parker by LPD officers.
Detectives will continue to investigate this shooting incident and work to determine who else may have been involved and what the motive was.
