"As we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Lexington Barbecue Festival, it fills me with immense pride and gratitude to reflect on the incredible journey we've taken. For four decades, the festival has brought together families, friends and visitors from across the country and beyond to share in our unique heritage and passion for Lexington-style barbecue," said Executive Director, Stephanie Saintsing Naset. "It's a celebration of tradition, hard work and the spirit of Lexington. I am honored and proud to continue the tradition that the festival's founders, my mother, the late Kay K. "The Barbecue Festival represents some of the greatest things about our Lexington Community with a rich history of "Western-style" pit cooked pork shoulders dating back to the early 1900's. The festival has great southern hospitality and something for everyone to enjoy,” said Lexington Mayor, Jason Hayes. “We are so grateful for the festival organizers, BBQ restaurants and our city staff to be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Lexington Barbecue Festival. This brings tremendous excitement and immediate positive impact to our local economy!"

"I remember attending the first BBQ festival in 1984 with my high school girlfriend, who is now my wife of 34 years. We had no idea what to expect and it was unbelievable at the time how many people would come to gather on our city streets. It has simply improved and gotten bigger every year since then and I can't wait to see what our 40th Anniversary Lexington BBQ Festival has in store for us."
