City of Thomasville lifts water restrictions
January 22, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Thomasville is pleased to announce the lifting of water restrictions previously implemented due to the freezing temperatures and related water utility challenges. Thanks to the diligent efforts of city crews, contractors, and the tremendous support from the public, the city has restored the water utility system to full functionality.
City crews worked tirelessly over the past days to inspect, identify, and repair leaks throughout the system. Their efforts were supported by advanced technologies, such as drone surveys, and thorough inspections of bridges, creeks, and other critical infrastructure. The city’s swift response helped to mitigate further damage and ensured the stability of our water supply.
The City of Thomasville extends heartfelt gratitude to its residents and businesses for their cooperation during this challenging time. Many residents and property owners promptly reported leaks, unusual water behavior, and other issues, which greatly assisted the city in expediting repairs. Private property owners also played a crucial role by addressing broken pipes and other water-related issues on their premises in a timely manner.
“We deeply appreciate the teamwork demonstrated by our community during this period,” said Michael M. Brandt, City Manager. “Your vigilance and swift action were invaluable in helping us restore services and safeguard our water resources.”
As we return to normal operations, the City of Thomasville remains committed to ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our water utility system. Should residents or businesses encounter any lingering issues, such as discolored water or minor leaks, they are encouraged to contact the City of Thomasville Water Department at (336) 475-4247.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and partnership as we navigated these challenges together.
