Faith and Fellowship: A Journey with Jesus (Part 2)
Faith and Fellowship: A Journey with Jesus (Part 1)
As our journey with Jesus continues, we should always celebrate Jesus’ mother Mary. Luke 1: 47-48 reads “My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold from henceforth all generations shall call me Blessed.” Mary has a heart of praises to God.
We should always remember with God all things are possible. Our Lord and Savior specializes in the impossible. In Mary’s dialogue with Gabriel, Mary was informed that her older relative Elisabeth, who had been barren was expecting a baby and was in her sixth month: Luke 1:36 - “Mary rose and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda.” There will be times in the lives of the believers when God tells you to go and you have to go! “Obedience is better than sacrifice:” 1 Samuel 15:22
Our journey with Jesus doesn’t stop there. Luke 1:40-41 states: “And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: For, lo, as soon as the voice of the salutation sounded mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” What a remarkable relationship encounter.
The forerunner for Our Savior is on the way. There should be times when the mere mention of the name Jesus should make us leap. We should leap for joy, peace and love. Leap because he is the Savior of the world. We should leap because God has allowed us to have another day to praise him. We, as believers, should always have a grateful acknowledgement and just like Mary said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord.”
As we are making plans to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, it is certainly appropriate that we celebrate it with our families just as Mary did with Elisabeth.
God of Hope, please bring us together in recognition of new birth and new possibilities as our journey with Jesus continues.
May God so richly bless!
