Fundraising and Friday Night Lights in North Davidson
North Davidson beat the bears all night in the first round of the 2AA playoffs 40-14. It all started with the coin toss, as #9 Gavin Hill whom is unable to play as he fights his second bout with cancer walked to midfield as captain, and North never looked back. Despite an opening drive turnover the game never seemed too big for head coach Brian Flynn and the black knights. Whether it was through the air, ground or suffocating defense, the knights were able to defend the castle and keep the visiting bears on their heels all night. During the night the community and students continued to rally around Gavin Hill with a large cardboard cutout displaying his face being waved throughout the game. The knights also placed a sticker on their helmet and raised money Friday night to help support it's in-county rival Oak Grove who tragically lost a member of their community and father of an Oak Grove player, senior #5, Kahleb Craven, in a car wreck Tuesday April 14th. The fundraising efforts raised over $800 to help support their family in this difficult time.
Oak Grove and North Davidson waste no time though as they are set to square off for the second time in three weeks. The Knights look to defend the castle for second straight game against a bear. North will host rival Oak Grove at Palmer Field in the second round of the playoffs.
