Lexington City Council reveals commitment of Siemens Mobility Inc. to the city
In a recent meeting, the Lexington City Council’s agenda included a Resolution of Support for Siemens' Rail Grant by Resolution 2024-025.
Siemens Mobility, Inc. has committed to locating a manufacturing facility for its operations in the City of Lexington, North Carolina.
Siemens Mobility, Inc. has made application to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for a North Carolina Department of Rail Industrial Access Program Grant to assist in the funding of a rail industrial access track to serve its manufacturing facility.
The application for the grant has been made based on Siemens Mobility, Inc.’s plans and commitment to invest a minimum of two hundred million dollars ($200,000,000), up to two hundred fifty million dollars ($250,000,000) in capital investments and to create at least 200 new full-time jobs in the city of Lexington.
The grant does require that the local municipality where the manufacturing facility is to be located pass a resolution in support of the project.
City Staff has prepared resolution 2024-025 - Resolution in Support of Siemens Mobility, Inc. locating a manufacturing facility in the city of Lexington, for City Council’s consideration for adoption. Support for this project from the City of Lexington is needed for the grant process and this Resolution will be included with Siemens Mobility, Inc.’s grant application.
