Lexington resident charged with animal cruelty
On July 14, 2024 at 11:47 a.m. the Lexington Police Department responded to a disturbance call at 809 Olympia Street.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered five dogs that had no food, water or shelter and were malnourished. All five dogs were seized and taken to the Davidson County Animal Shelter for care.
On July 16, 2024, Tammy Wilt, was charged with five counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty and one city ordinance violation of having more than three dogs on the property.
Wilt was given a $2,000.00 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on August 13, 2024.
Additional warrants were obtained on Stephanie Mitchem for 5 counts of animal abandonment. This continues to be an ongoing investigation led by the Lexington Police Department.
