Lexington will host Black History Celebration

Lexington will host Black History Celebration

The City of Lexington, along with the Black History Committee and  community partners, is excited to host the 2nd Annual Black History Celebration at City Hall on  February 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm, located at 28 West Center Street. The City aims to recognize and  appreciate the African American community leaders, educators, businesses, and community  partners that have been fundamental to enhancing the City of Lexington. Guest artist Christopher  Thompson (aka Master Christopher) and local church choirs will be performing. Radio  personality “Mz. Goodnews” Genia Woods with Livingstone College will MC a step show following the event.

The theme for this year's celebration is "We're Better Together." Banners will be displayed that recognize African American pioneers and trailblazers who have been City Council members,  Community Leaders, Faith Leaders, Educators, Businesses, and members of the Divine Nine  African American Fraternities and Sororities. The entire community is welcome to join us for  this memorable event. We extend a special invitation to families and friends of those being  honored and all members of the Divine Nine African American Fraternities and Sororities.
