Lightning strike causes Tyro church fire
On the evening of Friday, August 2nd at 7:34 p.m. in Tyro, fire damaged Grace Missionary Baptist Church. First Responders arrived to find the steeple of the church on fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished and contained, with just the steeple area receiving minimal damage. A lightning strike is believed to have started the fire. The Tyro Fire Department was assisted by Reeds, Churchland, Linwood, and the Lexington Fire Departments, as well as Davidson county EMS and Fire Marshals office.
No injuries were reported.
