City of Lexington to host customer appreciation day on October 6th

Utilities Services Director Tracey White announced Customer Appreciation Day will be held on October 6, 2022, in the parking lot of the Utilities Complex located at 425 Carolina Avenue between 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Utility customers are invited for a hotdog lunch. This is a day for customers to be celebrated with prizes, simulator demonstrations, educational opportunities, and one-on-one interactions between customers and utility staff from electric, natural gas, water resources and customer service.

The celebration is part of Public Natural Gas Week (PNGW) is a nationwide observance that offers the opportunity to showcase public natural gas system and generate enthusiasm about the benefits of public natural gas. This year, PNGW will be celebrated October 2-8, 2022.

The City of Lexington owns and operates four utility services: a water treatment and distribution system, a wastewater treatment and collection system, an electric distribution system and a natural gas distribution system. In addition to serving city residents, Lexington Utilities also serve customers in areas throughout Davidson County and combine to total $76 million or 69% of the annual budget. The utilities are operated in a manner similar to private business enterprise; whereas, the guiding principle for City Council is to finance and recover the costs of providing these utility services to Lexington Utilities customers through user charges and fees. Utility rate schedules can be viewed by following the links below.
