Political Opinion: Local GOP calls for high voter turnout

The 2022 election cycle is here and we are off to a good start as Republicans. With wins in special congressional elections across the nation and a huge victory in Virginia last year, it is evident that Americans are not happy or satisfied with the direction the Biden administration is trying to take the nation. From soaring inflation to supply chain problems, Biden and the Democrats seem to not be doing anything to help the American people.

Although the momentum seems to be behind Republicans, now is not the time for Republicans to sit back and think everything is going to be alright. Indeed now is the time to work harder than ever before to ensure victories across this county, state, and nation. Davidson County is uniquely positioned, with its high Republican registration and voter turnout, to be the deciding factor in many statewide races in North Carolina. It is vital that Davidson County Republicans and conservatives turn out to vote this year as so much depends on it.

North Carolina must return a Republican to the United States Senate and send even more Republicans to the House of Representatives. Doing so will help place the Republican Party back in the majority in both the upper and lower houses of Congress and further stop the Biden administration’s attempts to steer the nation left. Davidson County’s participation is key for this to happen.

Let’s keep fighting the fight for freedom. After all, it is definitely worth it!

Christopher Jessup is chairman of the Davidson County Republican Party. The party meets the first Thursday of each month at Yarborough’s Restaurant in Lexington (optional dinner at 6pm, meeting begins at 7pm). All registered Republicans are welcome!
