Political Opinion - From Sen. Jarvis' Desk: January 21, 2002
Dear Friends,
It has been an eventful week here in the legislature. House Bill 605 passed this week in the legislature and is on its way to the Governor's desk. This bill would move the primary elections back to June 7, 2022. Due to the ongoing lawsuits, the primary (typically held in March) has been moved back. I was happy to support this bill and many of us in the legislature believe in moving this date sooner rather than later. As my colleague Senator Daniel said "“Frankly, we have no idea when the Supreme Court will rule, so this is just a precautionary measure."
Governor Roy Cooper has declared this week "School Choice Week" in North Carolina. This proclamation celebrates public, private, and home education options available to families. Thank you, Governor Cooper for your support!
Lastly I want to thank my friends at the High Point Enterprise for sitting down with me and discussing our bill S329. It is my hope that this legislation will help cut red tape and decrease regulations for our construction workers and architects.
As always, thank you to our numerous constituents who continue to write, call, or email our office.
Senator Steve Jarvis,
NC District 29
