Sheriff's office makes arrest based on NC Sex Offender Registry Violation

On Monday, November 20th, 2023 Stephen Grady was taken into custody without incident at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Davidson County Magistrate’s Office where he was served with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued for Felony Sex offender unlawfully on the premises due to residing within 1,000 feet of an educational establishment. He received a $5,000 secured bond and was placed into the Davidson County Detention Center.

Background:

On Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation in reference to a North Carolina Sex Offender Registry Violation. Stephen Garrick Grady a homeless registered sex offender in Davidson County violated his North Carolina Sex Offender Registry Requirements. Upon review of his ankle monitor GPS points, he stayed within 1,000 feet of Lexington Senior High School located at 26 Penry Street, Lexington North Carolina 27292. Due to violating his North Carolina Sex Offender Registry requirements a warrant was issued for his arrest.
