Press Release: Suspects arrested related to Fifth Street fire
Lexington Police Department detectives have continued to partner with agencies involved in the investigation into the house fire on Monday at 306 West 5th Street where Lexington Fire Captain Ronnie Metcalf sustained injuries that led to his death.
This evening, detectives arrested Brandon Alan Hoskins, age 31, of Lexington, and Stacie Blair Stegall, age 37, also of Lexington, on warrants for misdemeanor breaking and entering to the residence that burned.
Hoskins and Stegall were arrested at 38 Mill Street, where it was found that they had also entered illegally. Both were charged with one additional count each of misdemeanor breaking and entering to that location. Immediately following their arrest, LPD investigators applied for a search warrant for the room that they were illegally occupying at 38 Mill Street. When serving the search warrant, investigators found evidence of illegal drug possession. Based on that evidence, Hoskins and Stegall were also charged with felony possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hoskins and Stegall were confined to the Davidson County Jail under no bond, pending their first appearance in court.
This remains a very active and ongoing investigation. Other agencies involved in this investigation include the Lexington Fire Department and Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office, Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, and North Carolina Bureau of Insurance.
