Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, is slated to bring a larger turnout than past municipal elections. Early voting in Davidson County is on the rise according to the local Board of Elections. The early voting period began Oct.19 and will end Nov. 4.

The NC Network for Fair, Safe and Secure elections is pleased to note that more than 2.1 million people (including 819,553 Democrats, 673,117 Republicans, and 649,483 Unaffiliated) have voted in NC during the early voting period, at 359 polling locations, without any major incidents or disruptions. That number represents almost 29% of registered voters.
Due to a vehicular accident on Old US-52, the Midway United Methodist Church Early Voting was briefly inaccessible. Utility crews worked diligently to get the site functional, according to the board of elections.

Davidson County residents are included in a few communities invited to weigh in on election protocol. Debates surrounding dates, hours and locations for early voting typically fall along party lines. While many party leaders encourage voting, when and where that happens is often left for scrutiny by governing bodies. In the case of the November 8, 2022 election parties, local leaders are promoting the public comment period due to close on 5 p.m. Friday, September 9 for Davidson County voters.
Send your comments to The State Board of Elections. At its September 13, 2022 meeting, will adopt one-stop early voting plans for county boards of elections that did not adopt unanimous plans and petitioned the State Board to adopt a plan for them.

After a heated debate surrounding state-wide boundaries, Davidson County will see one of the most heavily contested series of local government races in more than decade.
On November 3, municipal elections will be held in Davidson County. Lexington’s election will take place in 2022.
