Smoke and Oak is giving back to the Johnny Leroy Dawkins Jr Scholarship Fund this month!! Join us this Friday to have a Pumpkin Old Fashioned or a mocktail charity drink of the month!! A dipped chicken buffet will be available for a donation in honor of Garrett Holloway in the Man of Valor Scholarship Fund competition.
The renewable energy company is awarding $1,000, one-time scholarships to graduating high school seniors across the United States who have an interest in renewable energy or STEM-related careers, and Davidson County, NC was among the communities selected for participation in the scholarship program.
The Empowering the Future Scholarship is open to high school seniors in our 19 county service area who are planning to attend a college, university, or technical school during the 2023-24 school year. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2023.
More than sixty guests gathered for the first annual Johnny Leroy “Lee Lee” Dawkins Scholarship “Where Are They Now” program on Sunday, December 11 at Lexington’s Edward C. Smith Civic Center. The event and silent auction served as a fundraiser for the scholarship fund that began 11 years ago after Johnny Leroy Dawkins Jr. was tragically killed in gun violence.

After cancelling all fund-raising events over the past 2 years, Davidson County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are going forward with their fall plant sale on Saturday, October 9, 8am-noon at Lexington Farmers Market at the Depot, 129 S. Railroad St, Lexington, NC.
