Ralph Clark named Lexington’s Interim City Manager

LEXINGTON, NC – Lexington City Council announces the appointment of Ralph Clark as Lexington’s Interim City Manager effective June 1, 2023. Clark was appointed to serve the City as the governing body continues its city manager executive search until a permanent successor is selected. The Lexington City Council worked closely with the North Carolina League of Municipalities to identify potential candidates for the interim position and Clark brings with him 30-plus years of experience, representing a variety of capacities in many local governments throughout North Carolina.

Most recently, Clark served as Interim City Manager of Kinston, North Carolina, and is currently serving his 12th interim assignment. Clark holds a Business Administration in Management degree from Averett University as well as a Public Administration Certification.

Mayor Jason Hayes says “Mr. Clark comes highly recommended by the North Carolina League of Municipalities, and we look forward to him applying his skills to our City as Council continues its manager search. It is important to this Council to have a transition plan that is in the best interest of the City of Lexington and its’ employees.”

During the Lexington City Council Meeting on May 8, the Council unanimously voted to approve the Mayor’s execution of an agreement between the City of Lexington and Terra Greene who announced her retirement earlier this year after more than 25 years of devoted local government service. Ms. Greene will continue to serve the Lexington organization as a Senior Advisor through December 1, 2023, and will support projects that are important to Lexington’s continued economic development.

Ralph Clark will serve as the Interim City Manager for the City of Lexington until the next city manager is selected. The city manager recruitment and selection process is being managed by Developmental Associates, LLC, located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
