The history of fashion was presented on Sunday April 2, 2023 at The Davidson Arts Council in a retrospective fashion show curated by Designer, Clarence-Vernon Hargrave. It was an exciting evening featuring models composed of local community volunteers who graced the runway in vintage designer fashion which spanned from The Roaring 20’s to 1959.
“I felt that it was important to show everyone why we wear what we wear. This includes the historical, social and economical references which influence our style, even today” said Hargrave
The collection included The Dior New Look of the 1940’s and other amazing garments up close and personal so that you could experience all of the beauty and details of each garment.
The evening was narrated and hosted by local music legend Michael Price and fashionista Toni Royal McCullough.
The fashion show was one in a series of shows to be held at the newly opened A|T 202 Gallery located at 202 North Main Street in Lexington.
The next show is scheduled for May 21, 2023 beginning at 5:00 PM and will showcase the fashion and style influences of The 1960’s and The 1970’s.
The series of shows is brought to you by The Black Butterfly Arts Network of Lexington and is free to the public with donations accepted.
