The Huddle Preview: Lexington meets Thomasville in football rivalry

Friday night lights features some great rivalry games. Games of this magnitude you can typically throw records out the door.

That’s the case this week when the 6-2 Thomasville Bulldogs travel to Lexington to face the 0-7 Yellow Jackets. For Lexington this is also Homecoming which makes it even more important. Even though Lexington has had a tough season we had the chance to talk to head coach Eric Brown and get some thoughts for the game tonight. Coach Brown stated the X-factors for a rivalry game consist of: emotions, history, familiarity with athletes and coaches on both sides, win/loss record, schools being close, and of course bragging rights. During the week of preparation Brown stated that chatter during the week is always higher facing the Bulldogs and there is an edge to win to represent your community, school and family.

He also stated that they role play situations where buttons could be pushed to keep emotions in check. When asked about key players for the game. The Yellowjackets coach said that skill position players on offense will be the vital as well as tackling the ball. Brown also stated that specials teams will be a key for the upset. So come out tonight and support your schools and this huge rivalry matchup 7:30pm at Philpott Memorial.
