We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our Thomasville Fire & Rescue team! Doc, a specially trained therapy dog, has already captured our hearts. He was rescued and donated by Forgotten, Now Family Rescue and has a remarkable story of transformation — from being abandoned to becoming a symbol of healing!

Doc was trained at K9 Responder Academy and will provide vital emotional support to our firefighters, neighboring emergency services, and the community. Whether comforting first responders after tough calls or offering solace to those affected by traumatic events, Doc is here to serve.

What makes this even more special is that Doc is believed to be the first rescue dog trained as a fire department therapy dog in North Carolina!

Stay tuned for updates on Doc’s community engagements and educational programs. For more information about Doc, you can reach out to Battalion Chief Richard Waddell at (336) 475-4209, Opt. #2 or by email at Ricky.Waddell@Thomasville-NC.gov You can also keep up with Doc's journey at https://www.thomasville-nc.gov/.../fire_department/doc.php.

Luna joined the team last year welcoming Doc to the Thomasville Fire and Rescue team.

Help us give Doc a warm welcome and keep an eye out for him at future events. If you see him, stop by and say hello!
