Jingle all the way to Uptown Lexington this holiday season

Lexington, NC – Uptown Lexington, Inc. is proud to present several Christmas events starting with the Christmas Open House on Sunday, November 21st from 1pm to 6pm. Elf train rides will be free. Horse-drawn carriage rides will cost $10 per person or $30 for four to six family members or small groups. The rides will leave from near the Square and Perfect Blend. Pour Folk Pizza and Mackie’s Munchies will be on-site making flatbread pizzas and snacks for sale. Two groups of carolers from Rich Fork Baptist and Light of the World churches will roam throughout the downtown area entertaining attendees. The Grinch and other Christmas characters will be Uptown, as well. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for visits at The Square beginning at 1pm. Photos with Santa will be taken by Matt Hand with Side Street Studio and cost $5 per print. Only cash will be accepted for carriage rides and pictures. Merchants will be open throughout the afternoon for Christmas shopping. From 5-7pm, the Raleigh Ringers will play holiday favorites at the Edward C. Smith Civic Center. Tickets are available on the civic center's website at smithciviccenter.org. In addition, the large Christmas tree on The Square will be lit at 6pm following a short ceremony.

While Uptown Lexington, view all the holiday-decorated windows and vote on your favorite. The business receiving the most votes will claim the $1,500 first-place prize in the Uptown Lexington Christmas Decorating Contest. Second place will receive $1,250; $1,000, third place; $750, fourth place; and, $500, fifth place. In-person voting will begin on Saturday, November 27th for Small Business Saturday.

Uptown Lexington-sponsored Christmas events will end with the annual Christmas Parade at 6pm. on Monday, December 6th. This year’s Grand Marshal will be Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin! The parade will start on Main Street near Hemstead Street and make its way down Main Street through Uptown. Entries are being accepted through November 22nd. A Google form can be submitted or a PDF downloaded and filled out at uptownlexington.com/christmas-parade.
