Water and oil leak caused S. Main St. closure

Water and oil leak caused S. Main St. closure

LEXINGTON, NC – On Saturday, March 4, at 12:02 pm, Lexington Fire and  Lexington Police Departments received a service call for a traffic accident. Crews arrived on the scene and noticed a large amount of what appeared to be motor oil  in the roadway and called for additional resources.

Upon investigation, firefighters determined the source of the oil to be Isgett  Distribution. A water leak was found inside the building and had overfilled an oil  separator, forcing the water-oil mix out of the building into South Main Street.

Crews secured the water leak and used sand and oil dry to help absorb the fluid.  The road was closed to allow for clean-up. Precautionary measures were taken to  contain and limit additional impacts to surrounding areas.

A clean-up crew worked to clear the roadway.
