Driver charged with DWI after causing crash on Hwy 109

NC Highway Patrol reported a woman was charged with driving while intoxicated on Valentine’s Day when she tried to turn onto Hwy 109 from Hwy 64 and crashed into another vehicle.

Troopers said the woman was traveling on 64 in an Acura SUV about 7:18 p.m. When she tried to turn onto 109, she crossed the center line, crashing into a pickup truck that was towing an SUV. The truck driver was not injured.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to a Thomasville hospital for treatment of minor injuries. In addition to DWI, she was charged with driving with an open container of alcohol and driving left of center.
