Locals splash in Special Olympics NC Triad Chill Plunge

Locals splash in Special Olympics NC Triad Chill Plunge

Friends, family and Davidson County law enforcement will make a splash for the Special Olympics by participating in a local Polar Plunge.

The public is invited to support the Special Olympics of North Carolina this weekend by joining the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department at the Triad Chill Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

The Triad Chill is a unique fundraising opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support the Special Olympics of North Carolina by jumping into the frigid water at Wet ‘N Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro during February.

Registration opens at 10:00 AM and lasts until 11:15 AM with the opening ceremony, parade and awards taking place at 11:30 AM.

The excitement of the “Plunge” will begin at 11:45 AM.

This cause is close to home for Davidson Local Youth Correspondent. Riley Elliott writes, “My older brother, Mason, has been my best friend since I was born. I will be plunging for him! This, hopefully, will give me an idea of the adversity he faces and conquers daily. Help me support Special Olympics NC as I go freezin' for a reason!” The little sister writes, “I will be plunging into the icy waters at Wet n’ Wild Emerald Pointe. This is all for an extremely good cause. I want to raise as much as I can for Special Olympics of NC. It’s time we learn it’s ok to be different. Having a label doesn’t stop you from being labeled! Please consider donating, nothing is too small and certainly not too big.” Riley shared a video on her Scoop Facebook. page. Riley’s fundraising page is close to 1,000.
