Last year several local groups joined together to not only provide turkeys, but so much more. Davidson County Compassion Inspiring Action, Carolina Senior Care, Scout Metals and Davidson Local are teaming up for the second year to serve warm meals with a side of compassion.
Admittedly, discarding food as a means of addressing this complex issue was not the correct approach, and we regret that it was not considered more carefully before being communicated to child nutrition staff. It is not the expectation that meals will be thrown away; prior to the COVID-19 pandemic universally free benefits, our high schools were able to successfully implement this same policy.
Davidson Local will feature local restaurants during Eat. Drink. Restaurant! Week. Our team will share their stories that highlight our dedicated restaurant workers. This week, we pay homage to staff and owners who work long hours to support and serve our culinary cravings.

There are numerous ways to entertain your entire family while attending The Lexington Barbecue Festival. Lexington Farmers Market organizers are set to host the first annual Farm Fest benefiting local farmers. Rain or shine, admission is free for this family-friendly event on Saturday, October 1st from 4 to 10 p.m. at Bull City Ciderworks in Lexington.
The N.C. State Fair is honoring farm families again this year through the Farm Family of the Day program. The program, sponsored by Tractor Supply Company, saw great success last year.
