Days before the swearing in ceremony, the city of Thomasville announced the leaves of absence for Ron Bratton and Jeannette Shepherd. Both have requested leaves of absence through March 1, 2024 for health issues. City Council has approved the dual requests.

North Carolina is honoring veterans on Friday, with all state employees having the day off. Our intentional commitment to both economic development and equity are not mutually exclusive.
On Tuesday, Nov. 7th polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters in line at 7:30 p.m. will be able to cast a ballot.

It has been a privilege to serve the city of Lexington as Mayor these past eighteen months and I would like to ask for your vote to serve another term to continue the tremendous momentum. Our City Council, under my leadership has had numerous positive announcements in the last year and a half that point toward an extremely positive future for Lexington.
In the 51 years I have lived in Lexington, I have never had reason to worry over the soundness of the financial affairs for the City of Lexington. But today, I have several good reasons for this exact worry, and my interest in being elected Mayor of Lexington is driven by the belief that my training and 50 years of leadership here in Lexington are badly needed for a more prosperous future.
