Davidson County Senior Services, in partnership with the Lexington Kiwanis Club, is hosting the Annual Seniors’ Day at the County Agricultural Fair. The date will be September 22 at the Davidson County Fairgrounds, 400 Greensboro St. Ext. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m., and admission is free for all seniors 55 and older.
Since its first year (1973), I have remembered August 26, Women’s Equality Day. This special day is meant to celebrate women and their contributions to our country, to look back, present, and forward, and especially to commemorate Voting Rights won by women after years of struggling just to be able to vote.
This 6-week class, beginning on Sept. 13, will cover the basics of viticulture and enology.

Tracy Leonard is a carpenter by trade but a farmer at heart. You could say it’s in his blood since he can trace back his family of Davidson County farmers to 1729.

Owens & Minor and United Way of Davidson County are teaming up once again to host their 2022 golf tournament on Friday, September 9th, at Lexington Golf Club, 200 Country Club Blvd, Lexington, North Carolina.
The tournament will be a four-person captain’s choice format. This year there will be morning and afternoon rounds starting at 8:45 am and 1:30 pm. Check-in for each round will be 30 minutes prior to the start. The cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. This price includes lunch, one mulligan per player per side, and one tee buster per player per round. If we see enough interest, we will add an afternoon round to avoid slow play. The deadline for registration is August 31.
The Friends of the Lexington Library is proud to announce our Annual Book Sale scheduled for October 7 at 8 with a Members’ Only Preview on Thursday, October 6.

Two uptown businesses relocating and expanding, while another has a new name and owner and one large anchor store has closed.
After years of working in restaurants and retail management he knew he wanted to start his own business. Due to low start up costs and his passion for great food he started a food truck business. His menu relied on high quality ingredients and focused on simplicity that allowed the ingredients to shine. He wanted to source his ingredients locally however it became very difficult. Small farms were hard to come by in the area of Colorado where he and his wife resided at the time, this caused him to become interested in what it would take to grow his own ingredients. “I had a little experience with gardening from helping my mom and grandma in the garden when I was a kid, but I knew I had a lot I needed to learn,” he says.

The Davidson County Fair is drawing near and Village Home & Garden Club members have been planning the ‘Floriculture Division’ display for several months.
We’re excited to introduce our first, foodie and hyperlocal evening of culture, food and conversation with chef Michael Morefield @ Rustic Roots on Main in Lexington. This mouthwatering event begins at 6 pm on Saturday, August 27th.

In less than two weeks we will be welcoming Dr. Daniel Pierce from UNC Asheville as he presents, How Secret Stills and Fast Cars Made North Carolina the Moonshine Capital of the World. This talk is a mix of prohibition history and NASCAR beginnings, and so, it’s only fitting to hold this event at Richard Childress Racing Museum.

On Saturday August 20, 2022 the Black Butterfly Network will present another FREE summer film classic and a runway competition and dance party before presenting the iconic movie Mahogany featuring Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams at Bull City Ciderworks facilities room. Doors will open at 6pm.
