Saturday, August 13th from 9:00am to 2:00pm the City of Lexington is hosting a Health Equity Fair at Lexington Senior High School. The day's primary goal is to provide information, resources, supplies, and tools to equip our community to live healthier lives across Davidson County and surrounding areas.
Soon, kids will be back in school, and even before that, student-athletes will be back on the field and in the gym, training with their teammates. Dr. Colton Wood, a sports medicine provider at Novant Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine – Lexington, discussed ways to keep young athletes safe and healthy throughout the season.

It was late 2021 when Socarras was named Miss Lexington’s Outstanding Teen 2022. Her passion and social impact initiative, another term for a platform in the Miss America system, is Share a Spare, which emphasizes kidney disease. As an ambassador of the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina, Socarras has attended meetings with nephrologists, kidney disease patients, recipients of kidney implants and kidney donors; it’s all a way to learn more about kidney disease and how to spread awareness about it.
With the theme of My Health Matters, the free two-day conference includes educational opportunities for health care professionals, individuals and families on August 12th and 13th. The conference, located at Lexington Senior High School, is open to individuals who live in the city, county and region.
