They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Meals on Wheels began in 1968 as a Sunday school project at First Baptist Church in Lexington. At that time, it was named “Layman’s Christian Council, Inc.” The name changed to Meals on Wheels in May of 1999. Our Director, Bob Husted, has managed this program for many years with great success. He attends to every need that arises full of vim and vigor. Along with help and guidance from Craig Bullins, our accountant.
Fat Daddy Farms LLC is a locally owned farm in Thomasville, its purpose to provide a fun farm venue for community events. They host farm events themselves as well as weddings, birthdays and photoshoots.

Meet Charles and Pamela Leonard of Gentle Harmony Farm, an organic medicinal herb farm located in the Yadkin River valley. When they purchased the property in 2008, they didn't intend for it to become a working farm as they had retired. Pamela had an increasing interest in herbal medicine that, coupled with their desire to have a productive second career, led them to a world of sustainable, organic agriculture.
Thad and his wife Heidi Wymer dug into farming in 2020 when the food system appeared to be collapsing. Their original goal was to be able to provide food for their family and friends. They had no idea that their passion to provide a good food source would grow so large that they would also be able to provide enough food to their community.
The lunch program started February 20, 2021 and continues to serve the community each Saturday beginning at 12:30 until 1:30 pm
Birthed out of a desire to impact the city on a larger scale, four churches formed a partnership that has been life changing. In 2017, Dave Fulton led the effort for First Reformed to find ways to reach out more to the community. He reached out to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Shady Side Presbyterian Church and Second Reformed United Church of Christ. We were looking for ministries that we as a group could do that were maybe bigger than any one church could do alone.
Whereas, racism is also present in more subtle and passive forms in social and institutional settings where systems of discrimination prevent the hiring and/or upward mobility of gifted and qualified individuals.

The motto for Snider’s Dairy Farm, “Where every animal is treated like a pet,” is fitting for this third-generation family farm that is part of the 2022 Davidson County Farm Tour, a community and education outreach event hosted by Davidson County Local Food Network.
At Rierson Farms NC LLC, you will find a herd of goats, chickens and some farm friends such as donkeys, Ollie and Finn, and cats, Mila and Mason. Zachary and his wife, Monica, are the owners/operators of Rierson Farms NC, which was officially registered in March of 2021, however, the passion for growing was cultivated way back.
Those of us who are the people of faith who call First Reformed United Church of Christ our spiritual home are fervent believers that children should be able to experience the love of God through the ministry of the church and individuals who represent it. Therefore, a ministry to children and youth in our community is always in our motivations, because they are the Church’s future.
