Come join us for a fantastic firework show on July 3, 2022 at Hughes Park. The gates will open at 5:30pm and cost $5 per car. There will be games/inflatables, music will start at 6pm and fireworks after dark.
Vendors: Sunset Slush of Thomasville, Sugar Mamas Sweets, Taco Bros, Hope Food Truck and Stuff-N-Fun Bears.
The Davidson County NAACP-Lexington Branch with the support of the community and organizations have been sponsoring Free Fun Days at the Pool for children ages 0 to 17. for the past 20 plus years. It started at the Washington Park Swimming Pool. After the Splash Pad Park replaced the Washington Park Swimming Pool, the support continued to the Lexington Aquatic Park. This project has been very successful. This year the cost has had to increase from $1. per child to $2. This will still be a very successful year, 387 children will be able to go to the pool free of charge. Because there has been an additional donation, 87 children will be allowed to swim free instead of 75 on the last Tuesday, August 9, 2022!!
Ease on down the road to the Black Butterfly Network of Lexington's inaugural “Summer Classic Film Series.” The group plans to host iconic movies presented throughout the series with The Wiz and Mahogany.

During summer 2022, ADC received a grant from Novant Health and contracted with Phillip Shabazz, a well-known poet, author, and teaching artist to bring his "Powers of Poetry Project" to Davidson-Davie Community college for a teen summer camp for up to 25 teens. The "Powers of Poetry Project" is a creative writing workshop which concludes with a celebratory Poetry Slam.
Bull City Ciderworks, the non-profit PFLAG Lexington NC and Uptown Lexington are partnering to host the second annual Lexington PRIDE event on Saturday, June 25.
For the third year in a row Anything For Our Youth is gearing up for a Juneteenth celebration set for Saturday, June 18th at 3 pm at Dunbar Park on 4th Street in Lexington. The festivities include a pageant and creative writing contest. The historic walking tour will be led by Tyrone Terry, a local civil rights advocate will lead a community walking tour of the historic area that will begin at 2:30 pm.
The River House Emporium, established in 2016 at 23 South Main Street in Lexington NC, will celebrate a grand re-opening under new ownership on June 25th, 2022. The Uptown community will welcome Keith Miller, the new owner / operator, at a ribbon cutting at 10 am on that day.

The 2022 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet highlights Dow’s Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) program, and the work of Team Rubicon. In addition to honoring U.S. Military veterans, RCR will recognize long-time partner Dow with a special logo on the hood of the No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet in celebration of the Company’s 125th Anniversary.
Each year, a group of around 100 volunteers participate in this process to review applications from nonprofits requesting funds from United Way of Davidson County. These volunteers make decisions on how to allocate funding to a variety of local agencies doing life-changing work. Our community relies on these volunteers to act as stewards for funds by the United Way of Davidson County. You can be part of this amazing group!

The colorful celebration is an engaging family activity to support and recognize the LGBTQ+ community not only in Davidson County but in the Triad.
After a 2-year absence, Davidson County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers present their 16th Garden Tour this June.
This year two contestants competed for the title. Ruth Brice Houston and Leslie Knotts Alston. Houston was named the winner at the ceremony held last month.
The lunch program started February 20, 2021 and continues to serve the community each Saturday beginning at 12:30 until 1:30 pm
Master Gardener’s 16th Garden Tour. The tour returns after a two year absence on Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th. Today’s featured gardens are two on Chestnut Street.
On Saturday, June 18th, Anything for Our Youth, in collaboration with City of Lexington Utilities, Davidson Local will host the event. Admission is free to the public. Food and craft vendors will have select items for sale.
