Graduation for participants in Getting Ahead is on the calendar for December 5, and the community is invited to celebrate their accomplishments. These hard-working neighbors are starting their journeys out of poverty and into stability and the organization is proud of all the accomplishments they have made so far. Those who attend the graduation will hear stories about participants’ experiences, moments of discovery and awakening in the group, and future goals they have set. There will also be a networking dinner designed to allow Getting Ahead participants to build their business contacts.
Championship-winning coach Matt Ridge will host a free coaching clinic on Monday, November 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson-Davie Community College’s Brinkley Gym.
This year The Salvation Army of Davidson County has committed to providing gifts to almost 300 families. The Angel Tree Program provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need through the support of community donors.
Smoke and Oak is giving back to the Johnny Leroy Dawkins Jr Scholarship Fund this month!! Join us this Friday to have a Pumpkin Old Fashioned or a mocktail charity drink of the month!! A dipped chicken buffet will be available for a donation in honor of Garrett Holloway in the Man of Valor Scholarship Fund competition.

The United Women in Faith of First United Methodist Church, 310 South Main Street Lexington NC will hold a craft/bake/tag sale on Sunday November 19, 2023 from 12 noon to 2:30pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Navy veteran Mike Loomis and wife Lorie will host “A Night of Remembrance” for those lost to overdose and suicide on Nov. 19th from 6pm to 8pm on the steps of the old courthouse.
