Davidson County opioid settlement funds committee meets July 21st

North Carolina is part of a historic $26 billion agreement that will help bring desperately needed relief to communities impacted by opioids. These funds will be used to support treatment, recovery, harm reduction, and other life-saving programs and services in communities throughout the state. North Carolina’s Opioid and Substance Use Action Plan lays out concrete strategies to advance prevention, reduce harm, and connect people to the care that they need.

Republican Women host Conservative Conversations and Cookout

The Davidson County Republican Women's Club is hosting their second annual Conservative Conversations and Cookout. This year's event will feature congressman Ted Budd, congressman Dan Bishop, Judge April Wood, county commissioners as well as other State, Federal and local candidates. This beautiful meet and greet will allow for discussions and conversations with our elected officials.

Thomasville council votes to dissolve multicultural committee

A multicultural committee formed in 2012 was recently dissolved by the city of Thomasville. The unanimous vote by the council cited “over the past several years, the multicultural committee has deviated from the primary mission of promoting and embracing all of the community's cultures and has expressed interest in focusing on a more narrowly tailored group of cultures,” and in a resolution to dissolve the group.

City of Lexington Fire Department: House fire still under investigation

Firefighters arrived at 5:32 pm to find smoke and flames. Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire and searching for possible victims. All occupants had exited the house before the fire department's arrival. However, one occupant, an adult male, had suffered some smoke inhalation. He was treated and transported to Wake Forrest Baptist – Lexington Medical Center by Davidson County EMS.

Thomasville Memorial Day Parade, ceremonies set for this weekend

Organizers invite the public to come out to Downtown Thomasville on Monday, May 30th at 9:00am the our annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will start at The Big Chair and go down Salem Street towards Memorial Park Dr. This event is hosted by the NC Memorial Day Parade Committee. The Grand Marshal for this year is Lt. Governor Mark Robinson.

County library policy comes under scrutiny for religious, political groups

A Davidson County library policy could be crossing the line after one mother alleges she was not allowed to set up her foster care display at an Easter egg hunt. Genevieve Traversy said a staff member pointed to a cross on her hat and shirt before referring to a policy that prohibits political and religious organizations from setting up on library property.
