First Reformed UCC Community Garden undergoing restoration - volunteers needed

With an initial grant from the Davidson County Health Department and ongoing support from the Church consistory and the Lexington Garden Club, volunteers and paid garden workers from the Open Hands Ministry of Davidson County have added an automated irrigation system, raised metal garden beds and a pollinator garden to attract bees and butterflies to the vegetable garden.

First Reformed UCC: Critical Conversations on Faith and Race

Birthed out of a desire to impact the city on a larger scale, four churches formed a partnership that has been life changing. In 2017, Dave Fulton led the effort for First Reformed to find ways to reach out more to the community. He reached out to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Shady Side Presbyterian Church and Second Reformed United Church of Christ. We were looking for ministries that we as a group could do that were maybe bigger than any one church could do alone.

Ellen Peterson can’t remember a time in her life that she didn’t love singing. Some of her earliest memories in life involve sitting on the porch swing at her grandparent’s house singing “You Are My Sunshine” with her grandmother, Laura Williams, or listening to cassette tape recordings of her grandfather, former Lexington Fire Chief Tommy Williams, singing barbershop tunes with the Firehouse Four

Holy Week: First Reformed UCC offers interactive worship experiences

First Reformed invites the public to come to “The Stations of Holy Week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Holy Week, April 14-16, 2022. This is a walk-through, multi-sensory worship experience for all ages. After entering the sanctuary, you will go to different interactive prayer stations that depict scenes from the last week of Jesus’ life.
